Background
A global approach to health and intercultural communication and understanding are becoming increasingly important to both industrial and developing nations as we find ourselves in an era of environmental threats, globalization, economic changes, and population growth. In fact, one of the principle goals for any medical student who has chosen a career in medicine should be to develop the skills to become an effective global health professional and advocate, not only on a national level, but also on an international level.
The increasing focus on internationalization of higher education has made study abroad program an essential part of any university learning process. This significant aspect of learning is made possible at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Alexandria, through its Medical Students’ Exchange Program. Alexandria Faculty of Medicine Students’ Exchange program is designed for international students who wish to acquire the experience of living and studying in Alexandria through a short-term study program and provide various opportunities for our medical students to spend short term clerkships in well reputated universities worldwide. It aims at fostering international understanding among students of different nationalities by providing an excellent learning environment.
Through the program, students can pursue studies through taught courses or research in their field of interest and gain broad perspectives on different cultures and background of their peers.
Medical Students exchange will promote international understanding and co-operation amongst medical students and all health professionals through international exchange of students. The exchange program offers students unique educational and cultural experience in addition to the regular medical curriculum. It also helps to broaden the students understanding of medical and social conditions in different countries.
